For 1.5-3″ diameter pipes, specialized equipment is used to apply a durable epoxy coating to the inside of pipe walls, sealing leaks and protecting the pipe from further degradation. For 2-8″ pipes, a resin saturated liner is pulled or inverted into the host-pipe and then cured to create a new composite pipe within the original pipe. A Streamlined Process For Pipe Restoration

1) Phone Consultation & Documentation Collection. Your representative will provide a list of useful documentation including plans, drawings, previous inspection videos. We’ll discuss your preliminary concerns and goals.

2) Site Visit & Initial Pipe Inspection. We’ll come to your location and meet with designated point person(s). An initial video pipe inspection may be performed on known problem areas.

3) Restoration Plan Presented. After a thorough review of all information, we will present a comprehensive plan for restoring your failing pipe system(s). The plan will offer options and suggestions to address budgetary or logistical concerns.

4) Board / Management Approval. We will meet with your board or management team to discuss any questions or concerns and make final adjustments to the restoration plan if necessary.

5) Scheduling Finalized & Notices Mailed. Upon approval of the board, our production management will schedule a work start date. Notices may be mailed to occupants at this time (we will provide a template if desired).

7) Regular Progress Reports Provided. As work is completed, regular progress reports are provided to designated point persons. Our representatives are available to meet and answer any questions that may arise.

Frequently Asked Questions

The primary reason pipe restoration is so much less expensive than pipe replacement (re-piping), is because Champion Pipe Restoration rehabilitates pipes without having to dig up or destroy everything around them. In a classical pipe replacement scenario, pipes must be removed and replaced from behind walls, under slabs, under floors, and under driveways and landscaping. In many cases, this requires the expensive and time-consuming process of tearing up and repairing kitchens, flooring, slabs, sidewalks, asphalt, green areas, etc. It’s also time consuming. With traditional re-piping methods causing so much disruption, it’s easy to imagine how Champion Pipe Restoration can save customers as much as 40% or more over pipe replacement.

While there are several factors that influence how long pipe restoration will take, Champion Pipe Restoration can often restore vertical stack sections and branch lines and return them to service in a single shift; this means that occupants will typically have service each evening by the time our crews leave for the day. The length of time required to complete the entire project is dependent on the size of the building, number of pipes requiring restoration, and site-specific logistical challenges. Regardless of the circumstances however, our pipe restoration methods are almost always significantly faster than pipe replacement.

Our restoration methods are applicable to virtually every kind of pipe used in the construction trades. We commonly restore Cast-Iron, Vitrified Clay, PVC, Galvanized Steel, and Concrete pipes found in most sewer and drainage systems.

In most cases, the building association is responsible for servicing all common lines, while the unit owners are responsible for the plumbing inside their units. When we take on a building project, we often offer a discounted package option to unit owners that want to restore their unit’s plumbing while our workers are on site.

Our pipe liner is typically comprised of several layers consisting of a plasticized barrier, felt fabric, and interwoven fiberglass reinforcement. The liner’s layers are saturated in a specially engineered resin, which cures to form a strong composite material much like the fiberglass that boats are made of. Cured liner is extremely durable and the materials have a design-life in excess of 50 years.

We typically restore up to 100 feet of 6″ pipe or 130 feet of 3″-4″ pipe in a single shot. For smaller diameter pipe, we can typically epoxy coat about 100 feet at a time, although multiple passes may be required. One “shot” is one continuous liner or coating installation initiated from a single access point. If the access point is a cut segment or a “T- fitting”, we can shoot in both directions, providing over 200 feet of restoration coverage from a single access point.

The simple answer is no. While there is a minimal reduction in interior diameter, the smooth surface of lined and coated pipe will usually improve flow capacity. In addition, prior to restoration, cleaning of the line will have removed roots and build-up that had previously impeded flow.

Yes, restored pipe is very root resistant. When Champion restores pipes, the resulting lined/coated pipe contains no joints or leaks. Roots are attracted to water. With no more leaks, there is no water for the roots to grow towards, and with no more joints, there are no crevices for roots to find their way into.

In terms of materials, the resin systems and composite liner materials employed by Champion Pipe Restoration have an engineered service life in excess of 50 years.

We have several methods for re-instating connections (branch lines) so that flow can be restored to trunk or mainlines. When access is available from the connecting line, we may utilize a milling cutter to cut the liner and open the connection back up. When access from the connecting line is not available, we utilize a specially engineered robotic cutter to reinstate connections.

In most cases, building owners are responsible for maintenance of the sewer pipes that connect the building to the public sewer system. The building owners’ responsibility typically ends where the “lateral” connection pipe crosses into the right-of-way near the roadside.

Drainage will be unavailable to affected areas while our crews are working on site. The respective drainage system will typically be operational by the time our crews leave each afternoon. Any overnight or longer-term unavailability is coordinated with management and the occupants on a case-by-case basis.

Depending upon the layout of the units, we will either pull toilets or use roof vents to access the branch lines. In some cases, we may have to remove a small square of wall material from behind fixtures to gain access.

Usually, yes. The state requires a permit for residential, commercial, and industrial pipe restoration in most cases. Your sales representative will speak with you about permit requirements prior to scheduling restoration work so that we may pull the appropriate permits on your behalf.
